Ford warranty claim rejections
Quick answer: Ford surfaces claim outcomes through the Claim Status Report, whose statuses fall into four practical groups: paid, waiting on the dealer with a reason string attached, waiting on Ford to disburse, and anything unrecognized. The rejections covered here are labor overlap, actual time that duplicates a claimed operation, and recall claims missing their FSA opcode.
Why Ford claims come back
Each one explained on its own page: what fired, what it costs, what clears it, and how to keep it off the next claim.
- LOVOWS validation code
Labor overlap on operations validation
An operation is claimed alongside another whose published flat time already contains that work, most often an R and I operation stacked on an engine-variant flat.
- 100D / L / Ractual clock time operations
Actual time that overlaps a claimed labor operation
Per-section operations whose time column reads Actual Clock Time rather than a number: additional related diagnosis, missing labor operation, and additional time for repair.
- Type 31FSA claim type
Recall claim missing its FSA article and option opcode
A claim type, not a rejection code. Ford claim types are numeric, and 31 is the one recall and field service action work files under.
How Ford tells you a claim did not pay
Worth knowing before the next one bounces, because the three manufacturers Forge files through do not reject work the same way.
Four groups, and only one of them needs you
Read the Claim Status Report inquiry and the statuses sort into four practical groups: paid with a dollar amount, waiting on the dealer where the claim was rejected or needs rework and the portal supplies a reason string, waiting on Ford where the claim is filed correctly and queued for payment, and anything whose status text does not match a known state and needs a person to read it. Only the waiting-on-dealer group is work, and it is the one worth reconciling against what was originally submitted.
Ford tells you the overlap rules in advance
This is the practical advantage of filing Ford work. Each labor operation publishes its own description, and that description states whether the work is bundled, which operations it must not be claimed with, and which base operation a combination operation requires. Operations validation returns LOV when a claim ignores that, but unlike Chrysler, most of it is answerable before submitting rather than after.
Actual time is task-scoped
Ford publishes per-section actual clock time operations for additional diagnosis, a missing labor operation, and additional repair time. They pay for the specific documented task, not for the gap between punched hours and claimed flats, and overlap with any claimed operation is a listed rejection cause. Desks that also run a Toyota franchise carry the opposite habit across, since Toyota straight time works from the punch total.
Recall work has its own source of truth
Recall and field service action work files as claim type 31 and takes its opcode from the article's dealer bulletin rather than from the labor time standards. The bulletin also publishes the pieces dealers most often leave off: the attestation operation on supply-constrained recalls, and supplemental allowances that are claimed in addition and never close the action.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How does Ford tell us a warranty claim was rejected?
- Ford surfaces claim outcomes through the Claim Status Report, whose statuses fall into four practical groups: paid, waiting on the dealer with a reason string attached, waiting on Ford to disburse, and anything unrecognized. The rejections covered here are labor overlap, actual time that duplicates a claimed operation, and recall claims missing their FSA opcode.
- Can we tell whether two Ford labor operations stack before filing?
- Usually yes, which is unusual among manufacturers. Each operation's published description states what it includes and which operations it must not be claimed with, so most overlap questions are answerable from the labor time standards themselves rather than from a rejection.
- Why did our recall claim come back with no opcode problem we can see?
- Recall claims file as claim type 31 and need the FSA article plus its option opcode from the dealer bulletin, not from the labor time standards. A recall line that reaches submission carrying no opcode, or carrying an ordinary repair operation, fails that requirement.
- Does Forge reconcile Ford payouts against what we submitted?
- That is the point of reading payout status at all. Short pays and outright denials produce no advisory unless the paid result is compared with what was originally submitted, so the comparison is where a desk learns which claims need rework rather than which ones simply have not paid yet.
Where these pages come from
Forge prepares and files Ford claims for the dealerships it works with, covering Ford and Lincoln, so what is described here is behavior observed on real claims rather than text quoted from a policy manual. Portals change. Check this against your own claims, and follow your dealer agreement and your manufacturer’s published policy where the two differ.
No dealership, claim, or repair order is identified on these pages. Forge is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Ford Motor Company, and product and portal names are the property of their respective owners.
